Magic Warrior in Another World - Chapter 19
Sanctuary of the Goddess of Light
A room with the wreckage of Living Armor lying around. Four adventurers were frozen in place, one of them a former adventurer.
The four who had been taken aback seemed to have lost consciousness and were no longer responsive.
After deactivating the magic sword and poking at the wreckage of the Living Armor, a yellow glass ball rolled out. It seemed to be a drop from a magical material-based monster. I picked it up, thinking that the color was probably due to its attribute.
“You didn’t tell me you can use the dark attribute too!”
It seemed that my father was the first to recover. Thinking about it, I only showed him wind and fire. Other than those two, I’ve never really mentioned the others.
“Fire, water, earth, wind, light, dark, I can use all of them, you know?”
“I, I see.”
The fact that Alphos-san and the other high-ranked adventurers froze convinced me that the magic sword skills themselves were either not widely used or outdated.
Dad also seemed to be aware about magic swords, like Magic Items, but they only have two attributes at most.
It was certainly common in video games for different types to have different attributes, and sometimes conflicting attributes could not be used.
This was also common when using the magic sword skill of the Mage Warrior, who could use all the attributes when acquired and could use it to exploit the weakness of an opponent’s attribute without much trouble.
Incidentally, the wooden sword did not break, but it would likely be damaged if I used [Magic Sword] one more time. I can intuitively know the durability value usable with a magic sword, apparently.
Last time, I struck it so hard under extreme conditions that I might have poured too much magic power into it, causing it to crack with a single blow.
“Isn’t Mina-chan amazing!”
“Hmm, I’m surprised.”
“I didn’t know you had that kind of skill.”
Alphos-san and the others who had frozen finally recovered.
After hearing my explanation of converting the magical power channeled into the sword into an attribute, Alphos-san and the others gave up on learning it because the difficulty level was too high.
The magic sword was a secret formula for magic warriors. So unless one becomes a magic warrior, they probably won’t be able to use it.
My father had kept quiet about the magic sword, but I agreed that it was bad manners for an adventurer to talk about the abilities of other adventurers.
…I wasn’t an adventurer, at least not yet.
Well, that’s fine.
Opening the door behind the Living Armor, we found ourselves in a small room with a few steps and a statue of a Goddess was placed in the room.
A treasure chest was placed on two sides of the statue of the Goddess. This must be the reward for defeating the boss.
“I’ll check it out first, just in case.”
Mirell-san started to examine the Goddess statue and treasure chest.
There were generally no traps in dungeon boss reward rooms, but there are rumors of a “fake reward room” that was a kind of trap.
In these rooms, the bosses were actually the statue of the Goddess or a mimic.
Most adventurers have only heard of such rooms from other adventurers, and without really any actual encounters with such rooms themselves, it seems.
It may have been made up by veteran adventurers to teach new adventurers to “always be on your guard”.
“There are no traps.”
“Alright, let’s open it.”
Mirell-san opens the chest opposite to Mirell-san’s. Gina-san can’t wait to see what she finds, and opens the chest in front of her.
“There is no magic bag, only a sword, and gold coins.”
“This one has similar contents. We’ll appraise it when we get back to the village.”
Judging from Mirell-san’s and Gina-san’s reactions, it seems like we didn’t get anything particularly good.
As I was about to look into the box, I touched the statue of the Goddess.
I was in a meadow. A path led ahead. I looked back and saw that there was no road, only a meadow.
…Haven’t I been in transferred all the time since I came to this world?
I had no choice but to walk down the road.
Normally, I would think a little before acting, but I didn’t think it strange that I was walking down this road. I was confident that this road was safe.
Soon I saw a structure. It was lined with round stone pillars and had no walls, only a stone roof.
The building in front of me looked like a small Parthenon.
It seemed similar in construction to the pillars of the ruins I had seen so far.
“Oh my, what a rare occasion to have a visitor.”
A Goddess, there was a Goddess.
Perhaps too divine, or too oppressive. Long hair that stretches to her waist, golden and shiny.
Eyes, nose, mouth, all in perfect proportion to her face. She wears a shining white and silver robe. I felt the magic of light like the cathedral I was exploring, but its strength was far above and beyond compare.
The Goddess was drinking tea at a round table in the center of the temple.
“This is my sanctuary, the sanctuary of Tellnet. …Hmm, Mina-chan?”
So the Goddess of Light was named Tellnet. But why did the Goddess of Light know me?
“You’re here so early. Oh?”
The Goddess, whose name was Tellnet, stood up and approached me. She was watching me closely.
“Hmm, is it because of your whimsical or mischievous nature? Or is this the work of the God of Destiny? Well, that didn’t matter. Wait a minute.”
Goddess puts her hand on my head. It was warm.
Suddenly I remembered the time how I came to this world.
I was welcomed by someone who looked just like me, from this world. And what she said to me.
As I recall….
“…Mina, I will give you back your body. With this…”
But I couldn’t remember perfectly.
“Do you remember?”
“You mean the dream in which I met the original Mina?”
“Yes, but I don’t know what it was about…”
“Well, I’m afraid it was more twisted than I expected, and I don’t think I’ll be able to completely restore it with just my powers alone.”
The Goddess sighed.
“Well, it’s okay. It’s not as a memory, but I’ll tell you what I know, because if I don’t do this, you might get in trouble.”
I couldn’t tell why, but it was certain that I was about to be swept away by events in this world.
… “Swept”, is how I perceived it, as if to emphasize that my reincarnation was not the will of the Gods of this world.
It seems that Mina, the original owner of this body, was supposed to die a few months after birth.
The original owner of this body, Mina, was supposed to die a few months after birth.
I heard that I negotiated with the original Mina, and she was able to prolong her life as the recipient of my soul.
The original Mina accepted the offer from the Goddess, and in return, Mina’s reincarnation would be blessed. However, it appeared that even the Goddess did not know when the reincarnation would take place.
It seems to be rare, but there could be a possibility that I would be born in the past and already deceased.
The original plan was for me to take over when Mina turned 15 years old, but due to some irregularity, it happened a little earlier.
Due to this, all of my memories and abilities at the time of my reincarnation have become imperfect.
Did I miss out on a cheat ability?
“You are one of the people this world needs. You are free to live your life the way you want to. But some things are bound to intersect with your fate when necessary.”
“Was it destined to happen?”
“Not really. Let me tell you that there is no such thing as a destiny that cannot be altered by a person.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes, there are a few twists and turns that could be altered at the convenience of the Gods, especially the coordinating God of Destiny, but they do not determine the fate in the life of the person. All we know, right now, is that it is necessary for us to have you, but we don’t know what that implies. Maybe you will be the person who saves the continent and the world, or maybe you will be the one to become a demon king, the one who brings the world to the brink of disaster. But, I guess, even if I explained, it wouldn’t really make much sense to you, would it?”
Was it like oiling a bicycle?
The bicycle would be the world, and the oil would be me. Well, in this case, I know why I the bike was lubricated.
If I could do as I please, I wouldn’t have to worry too much about it. It seemed that no matter what I did, I would inevitably be drawn to my destiny.
…If I had been told that no matter what I did, the outcome would be the same, I would have stayed holed up in the village until I was drawn to my destiny.
“Hmmm, I don’t know if I can say any more than that, because it would be too much of an intervention. If you are concerned, you can visit the sanctuary of the other Gods besides me and ask them to help you recover the memories of Mina in you. The Gods are obligated to cooperate with those who have reached the sanctuary on their own. Of course, they may not tell you everything.”
“Do you want me to touch the statues?”
“No, this time it was just a coincidence that you were connected to the statue. There are several entrances and triggers, but I won’t tell you any more than that.”
“If it’s like that, won’t that be reliant on my luck a bit too much?”
“That’s just how it works. I guess it’s more like asking for help from the Gods than being lucky.”
The Goddess laughed. I laughed along with her.
“There are other advantages to being invited to the sanctuary of the gods. There are some who say they haven’t had a guest for hundreds of years, and they’re not busy.”
“…I guess the Gods are asking for it, huh?”
“Yes, I also haven’t had a guest in ages, oh, I forgot to serve tea. Please sit down.”
I was seated at the table and was offered tea by the Goddess.
She produced a teapot and two cups out of thin air, poured the tea, and placed one in front of me.
“I hope it suits your palate.”
The color and aroma of the tea seemed to be black tea.
I picked up the cup and took a sip. I could feel the warmth of magic in my body.
“Don’t worry about it. It’s just that what you potentially wanted has taken root.”
The Goddess seems to be convinced on her own.
…What is it that I want? I do want lots of cheats.
The Goddess seemed to want to hear my tales, so we talked about my village life over a cup of tea.
It seemed that the Gods had their own work to do and didn’t have time to look into the details of human life, so she enjoyed talking about my daily life, even if it was nothing important.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had a good chat, but I think it’s time to go. Besides, if a human child stays in the sanctuary for too long, there might be a problem.”
“Fufu, I have a feeling I’ll be seeing Mina-chan again, soon.”
Please stop saying something so ominous. And I’d like you to stop saying things that would also follow that up so soon.
